Anything they can do, SHE can do better!

Software and Hardware Expertise LLC is a direct-to-owner intelligent building solutions provider that integrates and optimizes multiple systems, blending mechanical expertise, energy efficiency, and advanced analytics to deliver future-focused solutions tailored to each customer's unique needs and the evolving industry landscape.

Founded in 2021 by Sarah Cole, who, after 15 years of extensive experience as a stationary engineer working on mechanical systems, a controls systems designer, systems programmer, controls installer, energy controls manager, and indoor air quality and health safety manager for a college in Chicago, transitioned to becoming a product representative in Colorado, and a controls integration specialist for an energy company in the Northwest and Rocky Mountain regions. Throughout her career, Sarah became increasingly disillusioned with the industry’s tendency to prioritize profits over people. Driven by a commitment to integrity and service, she founded SHE with a mission to deliver high-quality, customer-focused solutions that offer exceptional value. The name "SHE" was inspired by the industry's skepticism, turning a perceived challenge into a mark of excellence and expertise.

Building a stronger trades workforce—by widening who gets to thrive in it.

The SHE Scholarship supports women pursuing skilled trades training at TACT. We believe the trades need more diverse voices, minds, and perspectives—and that excellence in hands-on, technical work shows up in many forms.

SHE has committed to paying the tuition for one female student each semester at TACT. This award recognizes dedication, resilience, and the strengths women bring to skilled trades training—especially in spaces where women have historically been underrepresented.

Why we created the SHE Scholarship

Women have always belonged in the trades. And when more women enter and stay in these careers, the industry becomes stronger—more innovative, more sustainable, and more representative of the world it serves.

We also recognize that many women bring powerful ways of thinking and learning to technical work—like strong pattern recognition, creative problem-solving, persistence, and systems-thinking. These are strengths that matter on job sites, in labs, and in every skilled trade.
